PhD Scholarships in Structural Engineering: Innovative Structural Design and Additive Manufacturing
An exciting opportunity for two outstanding PhD candidates:
The two PhD projects aim to conduct research on the theoretical development and practical applications of structural optimisation and additive manufacturing techniques. The topics can be related to
Shape and topology optimisation of structures for a wide range of applications;
Novel structural designs for freeform architecture;
Additive manufacturing and robotic fabrication of complex-shaped structures.
The projects will be carried out in the Centre for Innovative Structures and Materials (CISM). More information about the centre can be found from the following website

Value and duration
Each scholarship includes tuition fee waiver (for international student) and a PhD stipend valued at $32,841 per annum for up to 3.5 years.

Eligibility
To be considered for the scholarship, the applicant must:
Hold (or be completing) a Masters by Research or first-class Honours degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline;
Have some research experience in numerical modelling, computer programming and material testing;
Meet RMIT’s entry requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy;
Be judged to be highly competitive for PhD scholarships.
